All-Star Ensemble to Perform Premiere of "Legacies"

The NC Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society will be honoring percussionist, composer, & educator Lynn Glassock at the Day of Percussion this year, Lynn, who recently retired from UNC-Chapel Hill, has left some big shoes to fill, especially regarding his compositional output. His works have become staples in our repertoire – from solos to chamber works, to large-scale percussion ensemble works – so the chapter chose to honor him by commissioning me to write a new work to be premiered at the Day of Percussion. I am thrilled to be conducting an all-sar ensemble made up of our clinicians & university professors from around the state: John R. Beck, Kristopher Keeton, Gene Koshinski, Don Parker, Scott Pollard, Wiley Sykes, Benjamin Toth, Colin Tribby, Jonathan Wacker, Tracy Wiggins, & Peter Zlotnick.

March (...April, May...) Madness

Living in the middle of college basketball country with UNC & Duke just an hour to the east and Wake Forest a half hour to the west, March Madness holds a completely different meaning than what is intended here. For me, it's that mad dash from now until the end of the school year in which I try to squeeze too many events – a nice balanced mixture of performances, clinics, masterclasses, half marathons, and world premieres of my works.
