notes
Tangling Shadows was commissioned by oboist Amy Anderson and percussionist Lisa Rogers, both professors in the School of Music at Texas Tech University. The 8-minute work is based upon the Pablo Neruda poem, “Thinking, Tangling Shadows.” Fragments of the text may be found throughout the score for reference.
review (excerpt)
"Daughtrey has created a respite for audience members through his imaginary text painting and beautiful textures in “Tangling Shadows.” This challenging piece will be worth the time and effort."
- Brian Zator, Percussive Notes (December 2007)
